I feel bad for Starlo.
Star has a point, idk what the four were ticked off about, there is like 99% chance everyone willingly participated in the trolley problem, based on what we've seen of his behavior thus far it's not like Starlo to be that big of a jerk/drag them by force/yell at them to do it. Ed's words:
Tumblr media
he does it because Star asks NICELY
Tumblr media
clearly jealous
It genuinely seemed like a fun time/fun roleplay, especially since every day is the same. Like, the five are supposed to be a rowdy and adventures bunch, what exactly did Starlo do wrong, I'm genuinely confused and curious. Except taking a big liking in Clover (his posse should know that this is a big moment for him, according to Blackjack they've known each other since high school and had the same liking for westerns. So they were basically a nerd gang.) Starlo was kind, patient and considerate towards Clover the whole time, even warned Mooch about them not being bandits, taught Clover gun safety, wanted to bring his posse along for a fun time, thanked Ace for telling him about getting Clover a new hat...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure, at first he only liked Clover for being a human, but as Ceroba says, that changed and he grew to genuinely care about them, plus I can't help but think Star saw himself in Clover and that's part of the reason he was so proud of them all the time even when they messed up (I'll talk more about this at some point)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What exactly made Ace want to leave the gang? He even said how he doesn't mind "getting run over by the fake train"
Tumblr media
he's so nice. says sorry for forgetting the safety goggles even when he was scatterbrained due to his excitement. I love him so much
The only real "faults" (I'll call them temporary faults) I saw in Star during the Wild East section was that he was even more enthusiastic and more proud than usual. But how couldn't he be when he met a member of the species that he has admired for so long because they have real cowboys and sheriffs on the surface (who are seen as brave heroes who deliver justice, while Star canonically feels like a nobody farmer). His posse should have realized Clover wouldn't be there forever and just let their boss enjoy himself with his "deputy who'd have to leave sooner or later anyway"(or be more patient with him/ask him why he feels this strongly towards Clover/if there's a deeper reason for that). His friends including Ceroba just turn their back on him so quickly instead. The moment he's gotten the chance to feel valued for once and put himself first and not have to take care of this whole town and everyone in it and live his dream of meeting a real human, suddenly "his personality is damaged?"
Star's literally built this whole town, organised everything, he worries about everyone, Ceroba (plus was the one to give her emotional strength before and after Clover's sacrifice), Kanako, the monsters, his family, struggles with feelings of worthlessness yet never wipes that smile off his face, always does his best to be hopeful and optimistic and make others laugh, gave his posse a nap time so they don't become exhausted, gave Ceroba a free home, didn't act upon his feelings towards her and was a 110% supportive, caring friend instead. THAT'S who he is. He's the papa bear of this friend group, the glue holding everyone together.
He was just *really* excited. Y'all know he's insecure and just wishes to escape who he is and yet y'all blame him for liking Clover so much. Yeah, the four are very clearly jealous. But why won't the four of you control your feelings for a while? As mentioned, Clover WILL HAVE TO LEAVE EVENTUALLY. They won't be Star's "deputy" forever (the kid who's just as into westerns as he is, who values justice just as much, who also values doing the right thing. Someone he clearly felt understood in the presence of, whom he loved; just look at the way he talks about Clove during Showdown). Star seems genuinely confused of what he did wrong poor guy just wanted to live his fantasy for once and feel important:
Tumblr media
Even at the beginning Moray's like "oh no Martlet is upset" Mooch replies "don't be a buzzkill nothing exciting ever happens around here" and Ray's like "Yeah you've got a point"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you all agreed to have a little fun with a human who will very soon leave forever why is Starlo's enthusiasm such a big problem? If the posse weren't into this after all (unless they were simply too jealous which could have been solved with a honest talk and a little patience) why are you doing this "rowdy" job with Star in the first place? Do you want your boring routine day to day life so much back? Or just for Clover to leave (which they will soon enough)? You, western enthusiasts, literally met a real human, A HUMAN FROM WESTERNS YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PASSIONATELY INTO (clearly not as passionate as Star but passionate ENOUGH to understand where he's coming from).
... okay.

Clover Rants Miraculously: (Not) Your Own Villain
Relating to what I reblogged earlier, I think what ultimately hurts and delegitimizes any argument the canon storyline tries to make about Chloe being a amoral and irredeemable monster who will always be selfish and stupidly evil is that all of Chloe’s most major acts of cruelty and evil have always been facilitated/set up by a separate and more actively malicious third party. Outside of “Queen Wasp” (which I personally put under the category of “stupidly misguided to the point of being near lethal” than an actively malicious act), “Derision” (which I refuse to acknowledge as it contradicts several canon events and is a recon on it’s own even without the Chloe stuff), and her two “willing” akumatizations in “Penalteam” and “Kwami’s Choice PT2″ (Which they...really weren’t, or at least for the first one -  Chloe just waited for a butterfly to show to get akumatized like normal there), the girl has never once be an major threat on her own, especially at the start of s4 - it’s always her ending up being the tool of another bigger player for whatever the overarching plot was focused on:
Miracle Queen: The penultimate result of Gabriel, Nathalie, and Lila working together and emotionally backing Chloe into a corner (while isolating her from anyone nearby to help) to convince her Ladybug didn’t care about her and only worked because the writers had Marinette went for Kagami to break up the Adrigami date (Legit, I think if Marinette as Ladybug had at least stopped by Chloe’s and let her know she wasn’t going to call on her but that she would work hard to save her parents, Hawkmoth’s plan would have likely failed at the jump).
Deflagration: Lila was the one to egg Chloe on into interrupting the Adrienette date. Girl was just sitting there eating her food at that point.
Confrontation: Again, Lila’s running point on all of Chloe’s nonsense during this.
Collusion: Lila is the one to tell Chloe to get Bustier fired and basically sets her towards Gabriel and Tomoe, who then facilitate her coup by giving her the robots and support necessary to do it
Revolution: Gabriel Akumatizes Chloe into Queen Mayor to help capture Ladybug and Chat, which only happens because Lila convinces her to.
Chloe is only ever dangerous is someone else is at the helm, otherwise she’s just her normal annoying bratty self. How the hell do you expect me to take her seriously as a threat or villain when she can’t/doesn’t do anything majorly harmful without someone else whispering in her ear first?

To this day I can't believe that Charmy just randomly sat in the king's lap. She just plopped onto him and casually fed him snacks and slept on him and NOBODY even so much as batted an eye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It feels like this wasn't the first time that happend because surely someone, like maybe Owen, would have at least looked a bit sceptical about a young girl just coming and going to sit on their king's lap however she apparently pleases.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it makes me wonder at what other times this could have happend. Anyways it was really cute.

Is Clover's outer body more feathers or fur? I'd assume fur since they seem very fluffy, but at the same time they have wings which clearly have feathers. Also, slightly scary thought I had, do they have any scales from Starlo? If so then I'd assume that they'd be limited to their hands since that's really the only non feather or fur looking thing (maybe the tip of the tail? No that's actually slightly terrifying to me, just morphing from feathers or fur to scales is really weird, but monster biology be crazy like that).
Anyways, no matter the composition I just know that they would be soft enough to give great hugs, which kinda makes me want to hug them and pat them and show them so much gentle affection so that they do not get overwhelmed. I will gladly be Martlet-core if that's what it takes to assure this precious little goober that everything will be alright.
they are covered in fur, but every once and a while a stray feather with grow from their body. just a little downy feather so its easy to pick out, but it gets annoying and kinda painful with just one stray feather poking out of your neck
and they mostly just have the scales on their talons, but also the tip of their tail! its sort of like an ankylosaurus with their battering ram tail; its hard and pointy.
but they are very soft and good to hug :] i imagine their fur is a little coarse but soft enough they are soft to the touch. there is nothing more martlet-core than protecting clover and being kind of bad at it

Day Two! I missed a fucking gag. I had a few… data corruptions at previous points in time and… I guess I just never realized I had lost a gag? It's with the questionnaire. You actually answer the auditory ambiance question (you only get to answer with 4), to which Martlet is a bit confused but takes it. The next question proceeds as normal with the whole dead-center bit (the questionnaire asks about viciousness instead). (Video) Fun Fact for today: Wanna know how many vanilla dialogue changes (meaning excluding stuff I made from scratch) there are in Snowdin? Exactly 0. For all variations of Snowdin, nothing had to be changed for context on Clover's physical being. Main Point for today: Favorite Side Character? El Bailador. His theme, "DANZA", is actually Latin American Spanish for "He/She/You(formal) dance", and I do love me Latin America (is 50% Latin American).

Clover Rants Miraculously: Complexity
Miraculous suffers badly from complexity addiction and it’s gotten absolutely worse since season 5 started. Character routes can’t be predictable or just being A to B to C anymore - no, there has to be a twist every minute, they have to deconstruct all the tropes and chara types, they have to keep the audience on their toes every second or else! No one’s allowed to predict anything and things can’t be simply as they appear. However, they also lacks the patience to make the complexity they put in relevant or meaningful. As a result, character growth becomes flat as their personalities and values are changed or reverted back to previous stages to suit whatever the plot needs, with opinions that seem ripped straight from reddit pages and twitter threads that seem to lack any understanding of the topics they’re preaching. No one is allowed to contradict or question anything and status quo must be maintained at all costs, even as it bogs down all the new plot elements and lore they try to bring in. It wants everything to be “deep” without actually doing any work in digging for it.
Which is why the canon Chloe salt, Marinette’s bullying backstory, sentikids, and the Gabriel thing fall flat in their jobs to get everyone to subscribe to the writer’s sole interpretation of the characters/plotlnes they present (and nothing else) - because the writers want the benefits of creating a deeply thematic work that goes outside the bounds of its genre without actually doing anything to create said depth.
Chloe can’t just be a dumb mean girl bully with a sad backstory to explain why she does it - nah, she has to represent the worst of humanity and parallel an abusive parent and monologue about how she has no soul and everyone’s stupid for thinking she does and turn out to be responsible for every bad thing to everyone ever, but the writers will never actually address any of it meaningfully while actively trying to pretend that any implications they made about her character or backstory doesn’t exist or act like it was actually this super malicious psyop done by Chloe herself and we just imagined seasons 2 and 3 in a collective mass hallucination.
Marinette can’t just be cringe about her first crush because she’s a teen and that’s what teens do when it comes to first crushes - nah, she has to have this completely out of nowhere and nonsense dramatic backstory about a prank by Chloe and Kim that justifies all the (kinda borderline creepy) stuff she pulled in the start of the show with PTSD and now you can’t make fun of/criticize her or your mocking a trauma victim you jerk (all while these issues get solved in one episode and all the other reasons to properly explain her flightiness around Adrien are either swept under the rug or just ignored due to inconveniencing their insistence of pushing this “Dating trauma” storyline that somehow only effects her with Adrien and not Luka or Chat Noire for reasons)!
It’s not enough that Adrien (and Kagami and Felix) is an abused kid trying to get out of his father’s controlling grip and come to his own as he explores expanding his boundaries and learns to stand up for himself - nah, he has to be a magical slave golem with 180 different flavors of awful implications baked into the lore of how his creation works and no feasible way for him in canon to actually break away from his dad on his own or with help, with the ending (if it makes it to the final draft/actual episode) regarding it making his entire journey of self-actualization and independence basically meaningless
Gabriel can’t simply be being an over-the-top control freak because of losing his wife and have that be shown as unreasonable - nah, he needs to be given Marinette’s exact same backstory (minus the bullying but I would not put it past them at this point) to justify why he’s totally in the right to be ruining children’s lives and terrorizing citizens and should totally be allowed to win in the end. It’s not that he’s unfairly putting the responsibility of his grief onto completely strangers and poorly justifying it with the idea that it’ll restore his family back to their idyllic days and benefit his son - in the end, guy’s just “a man who loves his family”, so let’s just forget about all the terrorism and emotionally abusing his only living child and focus on the important stuff, like the fact that Chloe and Lila are both the devil and more evil than him.
(Speaking of) Lila can’t just simply be a consummate liar who develops an irrational hatemance against our leading lady for pointing this out - nah, she has to turn out to have a gajillion different damn fake families and even faker aliases to jump through when she get tired of it or they get compromised, and all with it’s own naming system! Are her eyes actually green? Does she really have hair? Is she even Italian? Who knows - certainly not the writers! Isn’t great you invested years of interest and headcanons into a character who turned out to be a complete sham and whom the writers are now going to use to recycle the S1 villain gimmick because the Butterfly is the only villain allowed to exist? I sure am!
The writers want their story to be overly complicated and “deeper than average kids cartoons” but they want to retain their “silly simple cartoon” format and while it’s possible to do, the show runners seem adamant in not taking the steps forward necessary to achieve it, causing a constant conflict in both the show’s genre and character narratives that hurts it’s plotline
TLDR: In the immortal words - pick a lane my dude
